Abstract

|
Azathioprine (AZA) is widely used to maintain clinical remission of Crohn’s disease. AZA is also important as a steroidsparing agent in steroid-dependent and active Crohn’s disease. Bone marrow suppression is common adverse effect of AZA. We report a case of a 16-year-old male patient who was diagnosed as Crohn’s disease with involvement of terminal ileum and colon; he experienced clinical and endoscopic remission of Crohn’s disease following improvement of AZA induced life-threatening myelosuppression and pancreatitis.
