Abstract

Azathioprine (AZA) is widely used to maintain clinical remission of Crohn¡¯s disease. AZA is also important as a steroidsparing agent in steroid-dependent and active Crohn¡¯s disease. Bone marrow suppression is common adverse effect of AZA. We report a case of a 16-year-old male patient who was diagnosed as Crohn¡¯s disease with involvement of terminal ileum and colon; he experienced clinical and endoscopic remission of Crohn¡¯s disease following improvement of AZA induced life-threatening myelosuppression and pancreatitis.
